The Most Awarded Cameras & Lenses of 2025
4:13

2025 saw the release of a wide range of extremely good filmmaking kit from a whole boatload of manufacturers. We ran the numbers and these are the products that have won the most awards.

This time of year, there is a veritable snowstorm of awards lists published covering the best industry products that have been released during the course of 2025. Rather than add to the sheer volume of content with yet another one, we thought it would be an interesting exercise to examine all these lists and analyse what they were telling us about what products really hit home during the year.

We've constructed a winners table in reverse order below. But first a quick note on methodology a) for transparency purposes and b) because it reveals some quite interesting things in itself.

How We Counted The Awards

Basically, this list looks at the number of independent industry and editorial awards received by any one product during 2025. Awards that recognise individual creatives, projects, or sponsored retailer picks are excluded. Products are counted once per awards program. And, crucially, we set a bar of a 5 awards minimum.

That means only the year’s most consistently recognised models are listed here. These are the products that impressed reviewers and judging panels across the industry.

Jury awards and editorial awards are counted equally. The reason for this is that jury programmes reflect peer-reviewed industry assessment, while editorial awards tend to dial in more real-world reviewer consensus as well as end-user impact. Mixing the two together felt like it was giving the best overall picture.

Some awards categories seem to be scarcer than others, notably high-end cinematography, audio, and lighting. As we established a 5 awards cut-off, this means that products in these categories don't feature in the list. But it's worth pointing out that a product with only a couple of credible awards in these categories is probably performing as well as a mirrorless camera which has 6–7 wins.

To our eyes, there are some notable omissions here, such as the Nikon ZR, Fujifilm GFX ETERNA 55, Blackmagic PYXIS 12K, DJI Osmo Action 6, and more. This is likely variously down to niche high-end interest and/or recent release.

To check the results, we also modelled an alternative scoring system where jury awards such as TIPA and EISA were weighted more heavily than editorial “Best Of” awards. This reduced the recency bias of late-year launches on the editorial side, but the headline results remained broadly unchanged.
