Irix announces new variable ND filters

Irix has announced a set of Irix Edge variable ND filters in both screw mount, and magnetic form.

The new filters are designed to be ultra-thin and have been designed to screw in o traditional lenses, or they can be purchased in magnetic form for attaching to the Irix range of cine lenses.

The key features of the filters are as follows:-

  • The Irix Edge filters have been developed based on the highest quality optical glass, which ensures a high degree oflight transmission.
  • Ultra-thin, only 4,7mm for MMS version, with non-slip finish.
  • The filter frame is made of lightweight and durable aluminum. Its surface has been covered with a black coating.
  • 24 Multi Coating layers, reducing reflections, increasing oil resistance, and waterproof.
  • Super Resistance - The filter is designed to survive almost any conditions (available only in MMS variant).

The filters produce a 2-5 stop light reduction and are available in 67, 72, 82, 86, and 95mm sizes for screw mount. The smallest size retails for €115 and €215 for the largest 95mm size. The Magnetic version costs €225. For more information, visit the Irix website.
