Maxima 6 GaN

The Maxima 6 GaN is billed as the world’s first LED lamp driven by Gallium Nitride (GaN) circuitry.

The Maxima 6 GaN is being hailed by the Italian manufacturer as the world’s first LED lamp driven by Gallium Nitride (GaN) circuitry to achieve a higher power density while still maintaining a much smaller and lightweight body. It features more than 60,000 lumens and has the same high color accuracy with superior cooling technology and all-weather resistance. Maxima also claims to have the quietest noise footprint in the market.

It is compatible with Profoto RFI, Bowens S mount accessories and with the ARRI QLM system, and will retail for €2999 including the waterproof Flight Case and the Bowens adapter.

What is GaN?

Gallium Nitride (GaN) is the world’s first LED lamp driven by gallium nitride circuitry. GaN semiconductors are more efficient than silicon, so less energy is expended as heat, resulting in a more efficient system with a higher power density. This gives the light fixtures a higher lux-to-weight ratio, which means more efficient workflows both on location and in the studio. Less weight, smaller size, no noise levels, and a flicker-free performance of up to 200,000 fps means getting the shot easier than before without having to fight against cables, heavy tripods, and impossible lighting positions.
