Fujifilm's next X Summit will take place in Prague in 10 days, and judging from the tease on YouTube there's going to be a new camera announced at the event.
Okay, so we don't have much to go on here, but Fujifilm is up to something and it involves a camera as the end of the following tease shows.
The X Summit will take place at 11 AM CET, so it will be an early morning announcement for Americans (6 AM ET and 3 AM PT - you have to wait another couple of weeks for European clocks to move forward to daylight savings time).
So, whatever time that is for you, will it be worth tuning in? Petapixel amped up the image of the shadowy camera at the end and reckons it might be. The text on the lens says “Fujinon Aspherical Lens” around the top and “Super EBC f = 35mm 1:4” (probably) along the bottom. This is exactly the same format of the built-in lens on the front of the Fujiifilm X100VI, albeit of a different variety.
Equally, it's not a small unit as you can tell from the strap lugs, and you can also just about make out four dials on the image: two near the front grip and two on the top deck. There's also a central hot shoe. This pitches it towards more of a GFX-type camera.
All of which is rather interesting. Not long to wait now though and there's always the chance that it might trigger another camera manufacturer to go public with a new model in a classic spoiler operation. We're a month out from NABShow now, but it's about to start to get busy...
