DJI's new SDR Transmission 2 adds 4K60 10-bit HDR monitoring, eight-way remote control and a 4 km range for RS gimbals, Ronin 2 and Master Wheels users.

More post IBC breaking news! DJI has launched the DJI SDR Transmission 2, the latest version of its video transmission system built on an upgraded software defined radio (SDR) platform. Much of what the system offers RS gimbals, Ronin 2, and Master Wheels users has been overhauled, and it now provides those working on-set with significant improvements over the 2024 original system. DCI 4K60 10-bit HDR at up to 50 Mbps bitrate, 35 ms latency, and an ideal-conditions transmission range of up to 4 km (2.5 mi).

Each transceiver has an integrated transmitter-receiver design and can switch roles depending on the on-set environment, removing the need to plan the transmitter-to-receiver ratio in advance. The main unit weighs approximately 136 g (4.8 oz). An optional expansion board adds an SDI port, an HDMI port, and four USB-C ports, with SDI metadata pass-through for cinema cameras. An equally optional cage adds protection for outdoor use, such as car mounts.

A single transceiver (TX mode) can connect to up to eight transceivers (RX mode), each with remote control, allowing camera operators and focus pullers to adjust settings and control the camera. Larger productions can run up to five transmitters and 40 receivers simultaneously.

The new Auto Channel 2.0 automatically allocates frequency bands across units, with frequency-scan readouts and channel-conflict diagnostics to reduce the donkey work of manual planning, as well as making sure the system works in a multitude of environments without conflicts. Feed switching is done via the transceiver (RX mode) or the DJI Ronin app, without re-pairing.

DJI SDR Transmission 2 - USB-C Ronin App 监看 USB-C Monitoring on Ronin AppOutput is via SDI, HDMI, or DP to professional monitors, or via USB-C to a phone or tablet. The Ronin app supports LUT, focus peaking, waveform, and false color monitoring, plus PTP control for compatible cameras (aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and record trigger) and CEC control for virtual menus on supported cameras.

Power options include NP-F batteries (6.8–8.4 V), PD-protocol USB-C chargers (15 V/3A), or direct mounting and power from DJI RS 5, RS 4, RS 4 Pro, RS 3 Pro, Ronin 2, or Master Wheels, with no separate battery required.
