Canon's latest firmware for the EOS C80 and EOS C400 adds Cinema Exposure Mode, improving highlight performance above base ISO and streamlining log shooting menus.
Canon has announced the availability of a new and free firmware update for the EOS C80 and EOS C400, headlined by the introduction of Cinema Exposure Mode.
This began to create a bit of a stir when news of its inclusion in this update started circulating last week, and it’s a decent upgrade. Cinema Exposure Mode is essentially designed to improve highlight performance when shooting above base ISO levels (up to 2-stops), as well as providing a more streamlined camera menu specifically for log shooting. This should give filmmakers greater flexibility while working in challenging shooting conditions, also helping maximize image quality throughout post-production workflows.
Above and beyond all this, the EOS C400 gets a range of workflow and usability enhancements, including Auto Exposure Ramping Compensation for smoother operation in broadcast and live production environments with supported Cine Servo lenses. The update also adds enhanced compatibility with the new CN30x40 Cine Servo lens.
This is Canon's third Cinema EOS firmware update for the C80/C400 combination so far this year, and will be available to download free of charge from 19 August via canon-europe.com/support.
