Aputure's Ted Sims shows off XT52 and more

1 minute read

It's nearly a month since NABShow 2025, but we have one last video from the show for you which we kept back because it's a bit of an epic: Aputure's Ted Sims guiding us through the features of the new XT52 and a whole lot else besides.

This is a good one. Aputure's President and Co-Founder, Ted Sims, is always excellent value, and in this video that starts with a look at the incredible new BLAIR engine-powered superbright 5200W XT52, he's on excellent form as usual.

"They say you only use tungsten for skin tones. And for some reason this makes sense, because, if you hire Natalie Portman, you want Natalie Portman; you don't want Natalie Portman minus 5% green, right?" he says reasonably. "There's always been a small differential between the colour quality of LED and the colour quality of tungsten. Well, with BLAIR, we have solved that 100% by recreating the spectrum of white light, not only in the daylight spectrum from using the Indigo gel...but we've also done a spectral match to actual tungsten as well, too. So, for people out there that want perfect skin tones, perfect 100% Natalie Portman, not minus 5%, the BLAIR engine will be able to solve that."

There's a whole lot more too. As he says, "Each release makes the ecosystem better, and then the software that holds it all together, Sidus Link Pro, only makes that flow and that ability to control everything better." Take a look below.
