AppleCare One: All Your Apple Kit Now Covered for a Single Price

Apple's new AppleCare One lets US users insure up to three Apple products with one plan for $19.99 per month, with add-ons available.

Apple makes a huge amount of money from its services division nowadays - a record $26.65 billion in the last quarter and 28% of its total earnings -  so it's no surprise really that it's looking to expand its AppleCare warranty program to hoover up a bit more cash.

AppleCare One lets users pay a single, monthly $19.99 to cover up to three of their devices. Further devices can be added on for an additional $5.99 fee. The company says that pricing is the same regardless of the products that are covered, meaning a customer can enroll their iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch, and save up to $11 a month over the price of enrolling the trio in separate AppleCare+ plans for each device.

It's rolling out at the AppleCare+ level of support, meaning it includes unlimited repairs for accidents like drops and spills, 24/7 priority support from Apple experts, Apple-certified service, and battery coverage. It also handily expands theft and loss protection beyond iPhone to also cover iPad and Apple Watch.

Possibly even better than that, any device under four years old can be enrolled in the scheme as long as it is in good condition. A diagnostic check may be required. This dramatically extends the current 60-day window to purchase AppleCare+, though headphones have to be under one year old to qualify for some reason.

Two other notable caveats as well. First, there is no hint of a global rollout. To date this is a US scheme only. Second, it is tied to a single Apple account which means no Family Sharing option, which feels like a bit of a swing and a miss. You would hope that both of these will change in the future.
