Can you really use a $1000 monitor for professional grading?

The democratisation of technology continues unabated, and one area in which this is becoming most noticeable is when it comes to affordable colour accurate monitors. Last year we interviewed colourist Andrea Vassalini about how he uses the Asus ProArt monitors, and how he thinks they empower producers on lower budgets.

Whilst they could never fully replace a $30,000 grading monitor, the Asus ProArt series comes as close to doing so as any products have done in recent years.
