Having spent much of the year writing about rising camera prices, it’s refreshing to report a move in the other direction, with Blackmagic knocking up to 36% off the URSA Cine 12K LF and URSA Cine 17K 65 camera kits.
Blackmagic has announced a significant price drop in its various Blackmagic URSA Cine camera kits covering the URSA Cine 12K LF and URSA Cine 17K 65, both with and without EVF.
At the top end of the savings scale you can get over 36% off the Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K LF, while even the most minimal saving of 22% brings the URSA Cine 17K 65 + EVF down by a massive $7000.
"Since releasing the Blackmagic URSA Cine cameras last year, we have been working hard to lower the cost of production, so we can now pass that on to people through the lower price," the company said in a brief Instagram post.
Shoot Straight Out of the Box
The idea of the kits is that they include everything you need to start shooting large format digital film, including camera body, 8TB Media Module, top handle, baseplate, power supply, and battery plate. All this is then fitted into a rugged pelican case.
The new prices, excluding duties, are listed below:
- Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K LF was $14,995 now $9495
- Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K LF + EVF was $16,495 now $10,995
- Blackmagic URSA Cine 17K 65 was $29,995 now $22,995
- Blackmagic URSA Cine 17K 65 + EVF was $31,495 now $24,495

The pricing is effective immediately, though it may take some time for resellers to update their websites.
