Manfrotto's new ONE Video tripod aimed at video shooters ships with a choice of two fluid heads, including the new higher-payload 502X.
Italy's Manfrotto has expanded its ONE support platform with ONE Video, a tripod system built specifically for video production, alongside a new fluid head, the 502X. Essentially, it’s slowly expanding the platform into multiple niches: the original ONE Hybrid release was aimed at hybrid shooters, which was followed by the ONE Photo for stills work. The ONE Video fills out the triptych.
ONE Video’s aluminum legs use a non-round profile for added torsional rigidity during panning while keeping the system lightweight. Manfrotto's XTEND mechanism lets all leg sections deploy in a single movement for faster setup, and an integrated leveling system is built in for quick horizon alignment. Leg angles and feet are adjustable, and integrated Easy Link connections allow monitors, lights, microphones and other accessories to mount directly to the tripod.
Manfrotto lists the tripod at 4.7 kg (10.36 lb), with a maximum height of 149 cm (58.7 in), a minimum height of 28 cm (11 in) and a closed length of 79.7 cm (31.4 in). Base diameter is 75 mm (2.95 in), leg angles are set at 20°, 50° and 81.5°, and the tripod is rated for use between -30°C and 60°C. A padded case is included.
Head options
ONE Video ships with a choice of two fluid heads. The 500X targets mirrorless cameras: its Fluid Drag System handles pan and tilt, a hinged plate switches between landscape and portrait orientation, and its counterbalance system is optimized for cameras of 2.4 kg (5.3 lb) at a 55 mm center of gravity.
The new 502X is built for larger camera setups, supporting payloads up to 8 kg (17.6 lb). It uses Manfrotto's Variable Continuous Fluid Drag System on both pan and tilt axes, with counterbalance optimized for 4.4 kg (9.7 lb) at a 55 mm (2.17 in) centre of gravity.
Both heads use Manfrotto's side-lock camera plate with top attachment for mounting, and both support the XCHANGE quick-release system, allowing tool-free switching between tripods, sliders, dollies and other supports.
Pricing and availability
The Manfrotto ONE Video Aluminum Tripod System with the 502X Fluid Video Head is priced at $599.95, with the 502X head also available separately at $299.95.
