Eddie AI v3 arrives at NAB 2026 with Night Shift — an overnight batch editing mode that turns raw footage into a rough cut while you sleep.
Eddie AI has launched v3 of its AI video editing agent today, with the headline addition being Night Shift. This is a new mode from the company that calls back to pre-digital workflows and processes footage overnight to deliver a rough cut, logs, and organized media by morning.
Night Shift works through the Eddie desktop app. Users drop in a folder of media and Eddie then sorts interviews from B-roll, syncs multicam interviews, logs both, and assembles a rough cut ready to open in Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut Pro.
There's also a text-based entry point: users can SMS Eddie at +1 650 444 9211 with a link to footage hosted on Frame.io, Google Drive, or Dropbox, and receive the edit and logging results back by 8:00 a.m. PST the next morning. The company says this is particularly suited to camera-to-cloud workflows, including Sony's camera-to-Google Drive option. This is a intuitive way of working with Eddie in the form he/ the tool was created - to be an Assistant Editor. When we are working on our own videos the most common way of communicating changes/ requests is not via FrameIO, Slack or email - its SMS I suspect this is the case for most production companies so to be able to quickly fire off a text to Eddie replicates "IRL" workflow practices and provides a layer of speed and convenience that can win over even the biggest AI sceptics.
Other v3 additions
Elsewhere, B-roll placement for docu-style edits, previously in limited release, is now generally available. Editors can import interviews and B-roll into the same project following which Eddie builds a narrative rough cut up to 40 minutes long using story guidance (ie notes on themes, conflict, and resolution). It then analyzes the B-roll, selects subclips, and places them into the edit automatically. This assembly edit can then be exported to the user's NLE.
Other v3 updates include email and password sign-in alongside existing social login; a rename of "Chat & Edit" to Docs/Stringout mode; faster and more reliable imports from Premiere, Resolve, Final Cut Pro, local drives, network drives, and cloud storage; support for mixing standard and multicam clips within the same project; and flexible pricing with pay-as-you-go credits, subscriptions, and the option to pause a subscription.
