The latest update to Eddie AI introduces support for more languages and a bunch of other stuff that will make the AI video editor even more capable.
The new wave of generative AI tools sweeping across the industry are open to many, many criticisms, and one of the most trenchant is that it's all been very anglo-centric to date. Given AI's role in translating everything from technical documents to running entire Duolingo classes, that seems a bit of an oversight - and it's one that Eddie AI is keen to correct.
The software now supports French, German and Spanish. "Import your French, German and Spanish interviews and chat to Eddie to help you find the best sound bites, create edits, even cut social media clips and of course, all of it seamlessly relinks back in Premiere, Resolve and Final Cut Pro," says company co-founder, Shamir Allibhai.
There's more too, most notably b-roll logging version 2. Allibhai says that b-roll logging in v1 is one of the most used features in Eddie, and version 2 introduces the nifty new ability for Eddie to locate the best sub clip in your video. There are no artistic decisions being made here, rather the AI automatically filters out shake, blur, and focus hunting, and creates optimised timelines featuring only the strongest material. The number of clips per project that can be analysed has also been increased.
Rough Cut mode has been overhauled too with the addition of multicam clips and sequences, meaning they can be added into the source interviews that Eddie assembles its narratives from, potentially saving editors even more time than the software does already.
