One of two new RF-mount lenses expected to be available from Canon by the end of February 2026, the RF 7-14mm F2.8-3.5 L Fisheye STM zoom lens offers a wild 190° field of view.
Billed as not only Canon's but the world's widest angle zoom with a whopping 190° field of view, the company pitches the RF 7-14mm F2.8-3.5 L Fisheye STM as ideal for dynamic fisheye imagery in sports, landscapes, and virtual reality.
It delivers both a circular 190° fisheye at 7 mm (wide) and a diagonal 180° fisheye at 14 mm (telephoto) across its 7–14 mm zoom range. It features a variable maximum aperture of f/2.8 at 7 mm and f/3.5 at 14 mm (which is brighter than its EF predecessor), and supports improved low-light performance and background separation.
It's all fairly compact too. The lens has a diameter of 76.5 mm (3.0 inches) and is 109.4 mm in length (4.3 inches) without the lens hood. It weighs 476g (16.8 oz).
For those that want to push the creative look even more than fisheye does already, it supports Canon EF-to-EOS R mount adapter drop-in filters (Clear, CPL, and Variable ND) and includes a Lens Lock/Limit switch, a Lens Function button, and a Control Ring.
On APS-C sensor cameras, it will provide a zoom range of approx. 8.7–14mm. A handy
“C” indication on the zoom ring indicates the widest zoom setting for APS-C where vignetting will not occur (approx. 8.7mm).
Optical Construction
Optical construction comprises 16 elements in 11 groups. This includes five UD elements and two replica aspheric lenses, with Air Sphere Coating (ASC) applied in three locations to reduce ghosting and flare.
Focusing is handled by a leadscrew-type STM motor with position sensors, which should enable video-friendly operation and reduced focus breathing (approximately 0.4% at the wide end and 1.5% at telephoto).
For those working in virtual environments, fisheye images captured with the RF 7–14 mm F2.8–3.5 L STM zoom lens can be converted using Canon EOS VR Utility for viewing on a PC or head-mounted display. 2D VR image conversion is supported on cameras including the EOS R5 C, EOS R5 Mark II, EOS R5, and EOS R6 Mark II.
Pricing and Availability
The Canon RF 7-14mm F2.8-3.5 L Fisheye STM zoom lens is currently expected to be available by the end of February 2026, for an estimated retail price of $1899.
