AJA's KONA IP25 now works with Colorfront Transkoder and On-Set Dailies on Windows, bringing uncompressed SMPTE ST 2110 I/O to mastering and dailies workflows.
AJA's well-regarded KONA IP25 PCIe card now works with Colorfront's Transkoder and On-Set Dailies software on Windows, giving users access to uncompressed SMPTE ST 2110 I/O within both applications.
The integration looks to be fairly straightforward for end users: install the KONA IP25, launch either Colorfront application, and the software detects the card automatically. From there, users can configure settings covering the full range of color formats the card supports, from RGB to YUV, 4:4:4 12-bit and beyond.
The KONA IP25 debuted at IBC2024 and is available worldwide for $6,995. It is an 8-lane PCIe Gen 4.0 card with two SFP cages supporting 10/25 GigE and a 1 GigE RJ-45 connector. It handles bidirectional uncompressed video over IP with onboard PTP and NMOS control, and runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux. It uses the same AJA SDK as baseband KONA cards, which is how the Colorfront integration came together so quickly: Colorfront updated the SDK and made minor code changes, and the card was recognized.
Colorfront Transkoder handles mastering, processing, and delivery for post pipelines with built-in reference-quality streaming. On-Set Dailies manages camera-original media from ingest through delivery. Both now support ST 2110 I/O via the KONA IP25.
