SmallRig is testing the waters of producing its own production cart with a limited edition crowdfunded run of 50 of its new 36" lightweight Video Production Camera Carts.
For those used to SmallRig inhabiting the cheaper end of the production kit spectrum, the pricing of the new Video Production Camera Cart is going to come as a bit of a shock. Only 50 are being made in an initial production run, and the company is looking for $1899 each to crowdfund their production. And that's with the current Cinegear $300 discount applied.
Still, it has a decent enough spec. Its genesis lies back in 2021 when the company teamed up with filmmaker and designer Ian Roche to map out its capabilities, and its four-year journey to the market even in this limited form shows some of the attention to detail that has gone into it.
Here's the features list:
- 36" Workspace & 250 kg / 551.1 lb Load-Bearing: Supports director monitoring, equipment transport, and editing control with easy mobility.
- Quick Deployment & Breakdown: Tool-free assembly with built-in quick release casters and handrail—ready in 5 minutes.
- 8" Silent Pneumatic Casters: Interchangeable with rigid casters and equipped with integrated positive lock for immediate stabilization.
- Versatile Expansion: Features four 5/8" baby pin mounts, one 35 mm / 1.4 in handrail, and multiple threaded holes for attaching accessories like magic arms, V-mount plates, L-shaped hooks, and parasols.
- Portable for Location Shoots: Weighs 28 kg / 61.7 lb; folded size complies with most airline oversized luggage standards.
