Mega camera comparison: Nikon D5200, Blackmagic Cinema Camera, Nikon D600, Canon 5D mk III, Canon C500, Sony F55, Red Epic, ARRI Alexa

Ever wondered what would happen if you pitch cameras at opposite ends of the price spectrum against each other?

Most of us wouldn't know where to begin with a comparison like this. It's very hard to be objective about the performance of modern cameras. Specifications don't tell the whole story, and, ultimately, it's up to the viewer. You pick the tool that suits you.

That's if you can afford it!

And the good news is that if you can't afford the top end ones, there doesn't seem to be a bad choice amongst the cheaper ones, either.

Make of it what you will

Thanks to Ludovico Bettarello for sending us this comparison. He's an independent colourist, editor and general-purpose expert in all things in post production and finishing.

Make of it what you will. But enjoy the fact that, whatever your budget, there are some truly capable options for you.
