Lomography’s Nour Triplet V 2.0/64 Bokeh Control Art Lens ships next year

1 minute read

Small objects of desire: Lomography is back with a new lens, the Nour Triplet V 2.0/64 Bokeh Control Art.

Following a successful Kickstarter campaign (the company’s 14th), which also managed to hit its stretch goals with some ease, Lomography’s new Nour Triplet V 2.0/64 Bokeh Control Art Lens should start shipping at the start of next year.

It's a fast lens designed for full-frame mirrorless cameras and is a total throwback to old-school lenses, both in design and its manual operation. Let’s dive in and see what this lens can do.

Lomography Nour Triplet V 2.0/64 Bokeh Control Art Lens features

Lomography says that the Nour Triplet V 2.0/64 Bokeh Control Art Lens is the world’s first to offer complete control of spherical aberration with a lens for a full-frame, mirrorless camera. Constructed in brass or anodized black aluminum, this lens has an authentic retro look, with more than one person saying the brass version has an agreeably steampunk look. It was inspired by 10th-century scientist Hasan Ibn al-Haytham, known as the ‘father of modern optics.’

The lens is fully manual, including focus, but you also set the aperture and spherical aberration (SA), which gives plenty of unique and even vintage looks and bokeh. The lens can be used for portraits, landscapes, general photography, and even cinematic video. It’s also a fast lens at f/2.

There are three levels of SA control, which include Soft, Classic, and Soap Bubbles, giving different looks and levels of bokeh. Bubbles is quite the creative setting! The lens supports E-Mount (Sony), Nikon Z, and Canon RF, but unfortunately, not L-Mount.

This is a very cool lens, but the question is, should you buy it? That’s ultimately up to you, but this lens might be more of a nice to have than a need to have. The Lomography Nour Triplet V 2.0/64 Bokeh Control Art Lens is a creative option for your camera and lens bag. Currently, it is priced at $335 for the Sony E Mount version, which is 25% off as an early bird special, while RF and Z mount come in at a discounted $359.

A frankly gorgeous brass version adds around $80 and 225g (0.43 lbs) to its 395g (0.87 lbs) weight.
