This could generate some interesting content worth watching; Angelbird has been tapped to be one of the official partners for the Red Bull X-Alps 2025.
Sometimes it's difficult to know which is more successful: the Red Bull media and sport arm, or the original drink itself. From jumping off balloon platforms on the edge of space to cycling teams to producing famously undriveable by anyone but one man F1 cars, Red Bull has managed to make its name synonymous with adventure. It's been textbook marketing and the Red Bull X-Alps race is the strategy at its peak.
Red Bull X-Alps is the world’s toughest adventure race — the ultimate test of body and mind — open to the best adventure athletes, where men and women compete on equal terms.
It’s billed as a fiercely contested battle across the Alps lasting almost two weeks in which around 30 athletes run, hike and fly by paraglider up to 150 km a day passing set waypoints positioned across the highest and most iconic mountains of the Alps as well as in well-known resorts.
Think of it as the Barkley Marathons with wings. Athletes will often hike up to 4000 m of vertical ascent each day and run as much as 100 km on foot.
Unlike the Barkley though, the Red Bull X-Alps is extremely media friendly. You have live 3D tracking of the athletes, you have live coverage of the usual visual variety, and you have regularly uploaded videos taken from athletes and crew sin some unbelievably hard conditions.
This is where Angelbird comes in. "Red Bull X-Alps athletes perform in extreme terrain and unpredictable conditions. And alongside them, professional creatives — photographers, videographers, and storytellers — must perform too, capturing every unforgettable moment as it unfolds," writes the company.
"At Angelbird, we understand what it takes to deliver in those moments. Our media gear is designed and engineered for speed, durability, and reliability, no matter how harsh or remote the environment. Whether on a mountain ridge or mid-flight, creators need gear that works as hard as they do — without limits, without compromise."
Nice pitch. More to the point though that means they're going to create some hopefully rather stellar BTS content for the rest of us to enjoy. Angelbird says it will be sharing exclusive behind-the-scenes content that brings us closer to the action of the race and of those capturing it in real time. "You'll meet the photographers, videographers, and content creators embedded in the field, following athletes across valleys, glaciers, and sky-high ridges to capture their journeys and tell their stories."
Should be fun.
You can read more here and we're hoping to drop links to the content on this page as well, as some of it should be genuinely interesting at best and decent Alpine eye-candy at worst.
The 2025 edition is the 12th edition of the race and every edition since 2009 has been won by the Swiss athlete Christian Maurer. Will Chrigel the Eagle do it again, or can someone else fly their way to the finish ahead of him. We'll find out when the race starts on June 15.
