The RED Compact EVF can now be yours in a couple of days

RED’s eagerly awaited Compact EVF is now shipping, while the company has also dropped some new beta firmware for V-RAPTOR & KOMODO-X.

Announced back in January, the new RED Compact EVF is now shipping with a lead time of only a couple of business days.

It’s a single cable monitoring solution for all of the company’s DSMC3 camera systems, and features a 1080p micro-OLED display and user-assignable buttons to quickly access tools such as peaking and magnifying. Alternatively, the buttons can be used to control the camera’s settings such as ISO, FPS, and White Balance.

It costs $4950 as a complete pack (above) or $3450 as a standalone unit. It is compatible with KOMODO-X, V-RAPTOR, and V-RAPTOR XL cameras, and the pack includes the RED Compact EVF, a DSMC3 Adapter A, a RED EVF Mount, and an 18” Right-to-Straight EVF cable.

As the company notes, a 15mm mounting bracket is not included. Mounting options for  DSMC3 include a $99 RED 15mm Top Handle Bracket or $199 V-RAPTOR XL Top 15 mm LWS Rod Support Brackets.

At the end of February, RED also released new beta firmware for its V-RAPTOR series and  the KOMODO-X.

Amongst other things, the 1.72 beta firmware for V-RAPTOR adds support for the Compact EVF,  horizon and tilt overlays, image flip, and more. The 1.21 beta for the KOMODO-X pretty much runs through the same list, though there are a few differences.
