DJI Mavic 4 Pro: One drone, three cameras, and DJI's most advanced drone yet

A 100MP Hasselblad main camera, large CMOS dual tele cameras, and a 360° rotation Infinity Gimbal combine to make the DJI Mavic 4 Pro an impressive aerial platform.

After a couple of releases aimed at the lower end of the content creator market, DJI returns to the pro arena with the DJI Mavic 4 Pro. Well, it does everywhere apart from the USA. The company says that it has no plans to bring it the States and the warranty of any units bought in Canada or Mexico and flown in the US will be void.

Update: This hasn't stopped several stores selling them. As the Verge reports, B&H has been taking pre-orders and Adorama reported 'a few hundred' on the day of launch. DJI's own New York store also has them too, making the company's own online store pretty much the only major site not carrying it. No word yet on how this changes the warranty stance reported above.

A trio of cameras

Starting at a reassuringly expensive $2049 / £1879 / €2099, as hinted at in last week's teaser video the Mavic 4 Pro has an advanced triple camera system. This features focal lengths of 28mm, 70mm and 168mm, enabling shot capture from wide-angle landscapes to telephoto close-ups. All three cameras boast Dual Native ISO Fusion, seamlessly blending the benefits of high and low ISO settings and RAW stacking of up to 5 frames, along with features like Free Panoramas and Subject Focusing to help generate high consistency image quality.

The main 4/3 CMOS Hasselblad camera utilizes a new 100MP sensor and supports the Hasselblad Natural Color Solution (HNCS) for boosted color fidelity. A versatile f/2.0 to f/11 aperture allows for clean low-light filming, while also rendering eye-catching 10-ray starburst effects.

Equipped with a 48MP 1/1.3-inch sensor and f/2.8 aperture, the 70mm medium tele camera has a new image processing engine. And powered by a 50MP 1/1.5-inch sensor and a wide f/2.8 aperture, the 168mm tele camera leverages a specifically optimized gimbal algorithm tailored for its telephoto optics to deliver 'unparalleled' image quality and stability in long-range aerial photography.

It's worth talking about that gimbal as DJI is rather proud of it. The 360° Infinity Gimbal is capable of full 360° rotation1 and 70° upward shots for what the company says are unprecedented angles. "Capture dramatic ‘Dutch angles’ straight from the camera or reimagine aerial storytelling with fluid, gravity-defying movements," the press release trills.

Video and more

Mavic 4 Pro_Product KV_Close-up_darkAll three cameras support 4K/60fps HDR video recording, while the Hasselblad main camera goes even further, offering 6K/60fps HDR video and an impressive dynamic range of up to around 16 stops. The medium tele and tele cameras offer dynamic ranges of 14 stops and 13 stops respectively. Both the Hasselblad main camera and the medium tele camera support 4K/120fps video recording, while the tele camera records in 4K/100fps.

Consistent color reproduction across allfootage is ensured with all three cameras featuring 10-bit D-Log, D-Log M, and HLG color profiles. A 64 GB storage module provides plenty of space out of the box and can be expanded up to 512 GB.

It's not just the cameras that are well-specced either. A combination of aerodynamic design, an efficient propulsion system, and a 95Wh battery deliver flight times of up to 51 minutes and top speeds of up to 90 kph (56 mph), which is fairly speedy. Range is 41 km (25.4 miles), while the DJI O4+ transmission system enables ultra-long-range 10-bit HDR image transmission up to 30 km (18.6 miles).

It also ships with a new Pro remote. The DJI RC Pro 2 remote controller has a powerful 7-inch high-bright Mini-LED display, a rotatable screen to instantly sync with the drone’s gimbal for vertical shooting, and a HDMI port. It has an up to 4-hour battery life, 128 GB built-in storage, and high-quality audio can be recorded with the built-in mic or when paired with the DJI Mic series.

Al in all, it's an impressive package that elevates what we have come to expect from a midrange professional drone.
