Petapixel is reporting that it has full details of the new camera(s) that will, it seems, be launched in October

Petapixel is reporting that it has the full details of the new GoPro cameras. Here's a summary of the purported specifications.

There will be two cameras, the Hero 4 Black and the Hero 4 Silver. They have different stand-out features.

Black

Starting with the Black, it's going to be able to record 4K at 30 fps, but, 1080p at 120 fps, but surprisingly, there is no longer a 240 fps option (you'll need an iPhone 6 for that!).  It will also be able to capture 12 megapixel still photos, also at 30 shots per second. This is an very interesting development as it will mean you can select your still shot with the same precision as if it were video: ideal for those difficult-to-capture action shots. Images are better in general, with improved dynamic range.

Silver

The Silver is a rather different type of device. It doesn't offer the ultra-high resolution of the Black (except at a rather lame 15 fps), but it does have a built in touch display, which will simplify the process of composing and reviewing your shots. There is no 240 fps mode either, but the Silver can also capture 12 megapixel photos at 30 frames per second.

Thanks, PetaPixel, for breaking this. There are more details on their site.
