This drone selfie makes a serious point: how else would you get footage like this?

This amusing aerial self portrait makes us gasp at the ways we can now make breathtaking videos with minimal expense

Drone operator Matt Benedetto wanted to make something a bit more attention grabbing than at simple cellphone "selfie". What he's done here is started with a close-up shot of himself, and then he's flown his drone upwards and outwards to reveal an spectacular landscape.

And it makes you realise that to make a shot like this only a few years ago would have cost an absolute fortune compared to the relatively modest equipment used here.

This was made with a DJI Phantom 2 Quadcopter, and a GoPro Hero 3+
