The instax mini Evo 2 adds a 4.5-inch touchscreen, a larger sensor, and a wider 21mm lens. It arrives in late November at $289.
With its instax line allowing Fujifilm to make money hand over fist at the moment, the company has announced the instax mini Evo 2 hybrid instant camera, along with an updated instax mini Evo smartphone app.
There are some decent upgrades to the now $289 camera with the built-in printer that has been such an Insta crowd pleaser since the original was first released in 2021. The extra $90 over the original’s $199 launch price will perhaps temper some of the enthusiasm (that is a hefty 45% price rise), but you can argue that the new features are strong enough that they justify it.
The mini Evo 2 has a larger 1/2.77-inch sensor, and its lens is now a 21mm equivalent f/2.0, against 28mm on the original. The extra hardware adds bulk, at 330 g (11.6 oz) against 285 g (10.1 oz), and 87.5 x 125.3 x 43.7 mm (3.4 x 4.9 x 1.7 in) against 87 x 122.9 x 36 mm (3.4 x 4.8 x 1.4 in).
That, though, allows it to accommodate a new 4.5-inch LCD 1.23 million dot touchscreen. This is a significant upgrade on the 3.0-inch 460,000 dot screen of the original, and allows the company to offer a new feature called Expanded View. This provides a wider field of view than the 46 x 62 mm shooting area, with an on-screen framing guide also included to help in composition.
There is also a new instax Immersive Movie feature that follows on from the tech developed for the instax mini Evo Cinema. The Evo Cinema provides 15 seconds per clip, while the mini Evo 2 records four seconds of 560 x 992 MP4 video at 24 fps leading up to each photo. This requires a microSD card. The camera can’t record movies to internal memory.
Print resolution is 600 dpi, with a choice of instax-Rich Mode or instax-Natural Mode. There is a microSD slot and USB Type-C charging.
Smartphone printing and remote shooting use the free instax mini Evo app, and the camera prints 2" x 3" instax mini instant photos, with film sold separately.
The instax Evo 2 is expected at the end of November 2026 with a suggested retail price of $289.
