Evoto 8.0 brings portrait retouching to DaVinci Resolve, story-based culling for high-volume shoots, and a creator marketplace backed by a $500,000 reward pool. It's available now.
Evoto AI announced Evoto 8.0 at its annual launch event in New York on September 22, 2026, marking a pivot away from recent experiments in genAI and back into its sweet spot of supporting creatives with the technology instead.
There was plenty to talk about too, not least that more than 1.2 billion photographs have now been processed through the software. And while we’re talking stats, the company says it supports 1.2 million professional photographers and 60,000 studios, and has expanded from 158 countries at its 2025 launch to more than 200 countries and regions in twelve months.
On with the updates. New retouching tools include: Precision Freckles & Acne Retouching, Face Shadow Removal, Clothing Moiré Removal, Liquify Background Repair, Sweat Stain Removal, and Generative Expand, which extends the frame without inventing new subject matter. The release also improves Background Extraction and adds orientation-aware AI Crop. A redesigned Home screen brings Create Project, Tethered Shooting, Workflow and Asset Hub into one launch surface, and Evobot, Evoto's in-app assistant, answers questions in natural language and links to the relevant control.
Evoto Video adds Hair Shine, conservative teeth whitening that reduces yellow without removing ivory, and Facial Fullness, all of which track the face as it moves. Match Color lets a photographer set a still image as reference, match one clip, then apply that direction to the rest in a single click. The plugin imports MP4, MOV and M4V, and exports MP4, and MOV; it supports H.264 and H.265/HEVC on import and H.264 on export.
This is potentially a huge one for working photographers. Storyline Mode organizes a set into photographer-chosen chapters; frames that don't clearly belong are left unassigned rather than forced into a chapter. General Mode groups visually similar images by subject, setup or scene for helping work through list-based work such as school photography, product shoots, real estate, and events. Segment structure carries through to delivery.
Workflow, meanwhile, saves a production path from import through delivery for reuse. Evoto's SDK connects to the Evoto desktop app, letting teams script recurring steps such as importing, applying presets, and exporting; SDK availability is currently limited to enterprise clients.
Asset Hub is a marketplace built into the editor, combining marketplace built into the editor combining official and creator-made presets, AI Looks, AI background fusions, backdrops and skies, launching with more than 400 curated assets as of September 21, 2026. Assets can be applied to a photographer's own image before purchase; permission is checked only at export. From September 22 through December 31, buyers of an eligible Evoto Desktop plan or Cloud Storage package receive three months of complimentary access to Evoto Official Assets.
To feed the Asset Hub, Evoto is seeding a new Creator Program with a $500,000 Creator Reward Pool. This pays $50 to photographers who join between September 22 and December 31, 2026 once their first asset is approved and live, with the top 20 creators by total sales during the campaign each receiving an additional $100. Applications open September 22 at assethub.evoto.ai; creator submissions, asset review and earnings details open September 29.
Creators keep 60% of net sales, with no listing fee; retain ownership of their assets; and may sell the same work non-exclusively elsewhere.. Creators apply through Become a Creator on the Asset Hub home page, submitting a portfolio and creative background, after which review typically takes seven business days. Approved creators upload assets through Creator Dashboard, set a price and submit for platform review. Earnings enter a monthly payout process via PayPal, with first payouts beginning in October; creators must be in a country where PayPal is supported.
Creators set prices within published bands: $8 to $30 for presets, $49 to $199 for AI Looks, and $2 to $8 for backdrops and skies. Presets, AI Looks, backdrops, and skies are open to creator submission at launch; AI Background Fusion is not yet supported. Creators may submit only original work they legally own.
