Zero Density has announced OGraf Studio, an open-source web browser-based graphics suite for creating HTML5 graphics based on the EBU's OGraf standard available on GitHub.
Developed as an open-source project and available at Zero Density's GitHub repository, OGraf Studio gives broadcast graphics designers a common environment to explore and adopt EBU OGraf workflows. It can be used to create lower thirds, scoreboards, tickers, full-frame graphics and reusable data-driven templates through a familiar visual interface.
Key capabilities include:
- Platform compatibility: OGraf Studio (based on TypeScript and Node.js) can be run from source, while single-executable distributions for Windows, macOS and Linux allow users to run it locally through their own browser without installing development tools.
- Visual design environment: A WYSIWYG canvas with layers, grouping, guides, rulers, snapping, clipping and responsive layout aids supports precise graphics creation directly in the browser.
- Detailed animation control: Independent animation tracks can be created for individual properties, with per-key easing and curves, local loops and freely movable OGraf steps.
- Data-driven graphics: Data fields can be connected to multiple independent property bindings across layers, supporting dynamic text, images, colors and gradients.
- OGraf preview: Users can preview Start, pausable Step and End behavior using the same timeline applied during export, helping them evaluate graphic behavior before deployment.
- Validation and export: Pre-save and pre-export checks assess packages against the bundled OGraf manifest, module and API requirements, including real-time and non-real-time compatibility.
- Optional AI-assisted authoring: A localhost MCP server exposes tools to create, validate, visually capture, certify, save and export capabilities to compatible AI-assisted development tools.
With the source code being publicly available, users can inspect the implementation, adapt it to their requirements and contribute improvements through GitHub. This also provides technology vendors and developers with a practical reference for experimenting with OGraf creation and export workflows.
