Venus recently announced the small powerhouse Laowa 11mm f/4.5 full-frame prime lens, and has now unveiled the wide angle Laowa 14mm f/4 FF RL Zero-D lens. That's right, a distortion-free, full-frame landscape lens for mirrorless cameras.

Features

The Laowa 14mm is a new wide angle landscape lens is aimed at mirrorless cameras, and will support Canon RF mount, Leica M (black and silver), L-mount, Sony E mount, and Nikon Z.  This will be an ideal lens for video and film production, and photography.

The maximum aperture of the lens is f/4, while the minimum is f/22. There are 5 aperture blades, and 13 elements in 9 groups. The angle of view is 114°, while the minimum focusing distance is 10.62 inches (27 cm). There is a screw-in 52 mm filter thread.

The lens is nice and compact, at 2.28 x 2.32 inches (58 x 59 mm), and weighs only 8 ounces (228 g), making it easy to carry around with other lenses. Laowa has a nice selection of landscape lenses, including a 4mm fisheye lens at f/2.8, up to a 17mm f/4 Zero-D GFX lens.

Pricing and Availability

The Laowa 14mm f/4 FF RL Zero-D lens costs $549, though the silver Leica M option will cost $649, and shipping starts by the end of September 2020 for most of the options, but the Canon RF mount and Leica M - silver option will ship in mid- to late October. Venus is also offering a free 100mm magnetic filter holder for the first 100 orders, valued at $149.
