Tiffen adds Blue Streak filters

The Tiffen Company has added a new Blue Streak special effects filter to its well-regarded line of optical filters.

According to the Tiffen Company, the Blue Streak filter is designed to render a blue light ray from a point light source, thus creating the classic look of an anamorphic lens. Rotation of the filter allows the user to adjust the angle and direction of the of the light ray streak to suit the desired composition or effect.

As with all the rest of the Tiffen filter range,  they are manufactured using the company's exclusive Colorcore Technology process which laminates the filter substrate between two parallel elements of optical glass, then grinds and polishes them to a precise tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch flatness.

Tiffen Blue Streak filters come in a choice of 2mm or 3mm streak spacing. They are each available in standard sizes (4x4, 6.6x6.6, 4x5.65, 138mm) as well as rounds to fit the IOP rear filter system on the AngĂ©nieux Optimo Prime Series. Special sizes are available upon request.

Prices run from $339 for a 4x4 to $649 for a 6x6. Here's a mere 15 seconds of Eddie Vedder highlighting their use.
