Which of the three standout action cameras of 2025 should be on your shopping list? The newly released DJI Osmo Action 6, the Insta360 Ace Pro 2, or the GoPro HERO13?
It has been an excellent 12 months for action cameras with high-profile new models from all the frontrunners in the field. There are any number of cheaper alternatives too, as mainly Chinese manufacturers retro-engineer the latest advances and add them to lower-cost rivals. But for this guide we're going to stick to the three main contenders for the crown of Best Action Camera 2025: the DJI Osmo Action 6, Insta360 Ace Pro 2, and GoPro HERO13.
One thing worth pointing out right away though is that only one of these cameras has actually been released in 2025, and that's the mighty DJI Osmo Action 6. GoPro skipped its fall release cycle, making 2025 the first year in over a decade without a flagship Hero Black model, and the Ace Pro 2 celebrated its first birthday last month.
There are strong indications that both an Ace Pro 3 and a HERO14 will be released in Q1 2026, but for now these three models represent the top choices for the year.
