Sony adds 4k120p recording to ZV-E1

A firmware upgrade for the Sony ZV-E1 adds some very nice slo-mo capabilities to the company's well-regarded vlogging camera.

We liked the look of the AI-centric Sony ZV-E1 when it first came out, saying that the company has firmly struck out for the shoreline marked ‘YouTube’ on the map and loaded it with enough new features at an aggressive price point of $2200 that it moved the goal posts for the rest of the field.

Well, if that was the case it's moving those goal posts a little further now too, with a free firmware update that will enable 4k120p video recording.

"The introduction of 4K120p recording marks a significant milestone for pushing the boundaries of creativity in a small and user-friendly form factor," reckons the company, and it has a point. And, almost by way of a bonus, the update also unlocks FHD240p recording as well, giving two very decent super slo-mo options to vloggers and anyone else who fancies a lot of Sony power in their pocket.

The update is available from the Creators' Cloud website . And, by way of a refresh, here's the feature list summary of what Sony says is the world’s smallest, lightest, full-frame interchangeable lens vlog camera:
