SmallRig Releases Weather-Sealed Hot Shoe Covers for Sony Alpha Cameras

Written by RedShark News Staff | Jan 2, 2026 7:34:53 AM

While Sony does have weather-sealed hot shoe covers for its newest cameras, it doesn't actually sell them separately. SmallRig has stepped into a small but potentially important gap.

Sometimes it really is the little things...

As reported by Sony Alpha Rumors, Sony produces weather-resistant hotshoe covers for its Multi Interface Shoe, but only intermittently. Sometimes they're in the box with a new camera, sometimes they're not. And Sony does not produce them or sell them as a separate line item.

So, step forward SmallRig. Following a user request and a couple of months of work, it now has its own $9.99 alternative that you can buy from its own store and also now rolling out across Amazon.

The weather-sealed cover shields the camera contacts from dust, moisture, and scratches, and features a secure and snug double-layer fit designed specifically for the Multi Interface Shoe. They're made from soft TPE and silicone, making them both durable and flexible enough for easy, tool-free installation and removal.

Designed for use without a camera cage, they're compatible with the Sony A7 V, A7 IV, A7R V, A7R IV, A1, A1 II, A9 III, and A7S III.

Pricing and Availability

Available as a 2-pack in a choice of black or grey, as we said they're $9.99 and are starting to roll out across Amazon as well as being available from the SmallRig store. If we write about anything that is cheaper to buy than this this year, and still be useful, we'll be surprised...
