SmallRig has been typically industrious and released a wave of products for the iPhone 17 Pro series, and is hinting at more to come.
Any major new camera release brings with it a flood of different accessories and accessory systems, and nowadays we have to lump the iPhone Pro into that category. So, SmallRig's latest additions to its ever-expanding product catalogue are mostly to be expected, but it does seem to be working on something a bit more out of the ordinary as well.
The first product in what is officially known as the Video Cage Kit & FilMov Photography Phone Case for iPhone 17 Pro Series is the Dual Handheld Kit for iPhone 17 Pro.
This kit includes a phone cage, a phone case, a TPU soft bumper, a rotatable side handle with wireless control, a rotatable side handle, a T-mount lens backplate, and a 17mm lens backplate.
The phone may be mounted in the cage with or without the case on, and there are plenty of mounting options via multiple 1/4"-20 anti-twist threaded holes and cold shoe mounts to add on handles, tripods, microphones, and lights.
The side handles attach to the cage using a HawkLock H11 quick release mechanism. Each handle rotates and one doubles as a wireless remote for one-touch shooting at distances of up to around 10 metres.
Pricing is $119, and there are also lower cost versions available without the handles (the basic at $49 and the Flagship at $69). Preorders are open now at the usual suspects with the first batch of orders expected to ship at the end of September.
A lanyard hole on the case lets users attach a wrist strap or other accessory to keep things safe and secure. SmallRig also says it is compatible with most phone gimbal stabilizers, including models from DJI, Insta360, and Hohem, though mounting on a gimbal does tend to nerf some of the filter functionality
Cost is $34.99, and it should be available in a similar timeline to the Cage Kit above.
