Written by Andy Stout | Jun 16, 2026 10:02:10 AM

PROTON has launched the PROTON LS, a 19 mm cylindrical broadcast camera with a global shutter sensor and IP67 sealing.

PROTON Camera Innovations has announced the PROTON LS, a cylindrical lipstick-format broadcast camera designed for wearable and on-vehicle applications. The company says it will be shown at IBC2026, which makes this our first official IBC2026 news story with just under three months to go till Amsterdam!

The camera is built around a 1/3-inch global shutter sensor, capturing 1080p 12-bit with HDR support across HLG, PQ, and S-Log3.

Proton says the LS has already completed Tier One deployments at two major rally events, mounted on grilles and roll cages for low-angle and driver's-eye viewpoints. The global shutter’s ability to read the entire frame simultaneously will help eliminate wobble and skew during high-speed movement or vibration. The company also points out that its low thermal output suits above-ear mounting on referees or athletes for POV coverage.

The IP67-rated housing measures 19 mm (¾ in) in diameter and 58 mm (2.3 in) in length, and weighs around 50 g (1.8 oz) including cable. Power draw is 2.5 W across a 4V - 22V input range, allowing integration into existing broadcast setups without needing additional power infrastructure.

Pricing and availability

The PROTON LS is available to order now from $1,849.
