The SmallRig Cage for DJI Osmo 360 not only provides expansion options for your new 360-camera, but it also adds enhanced lens protection.
There are many things to really like about the DJI Osmo 360, which has done a decent job of shaking up the 360-degree camera market. It is, after all, the first 360 camera to shoot 8K/50fps 360-degree video, and is so far the only 360 camera that can shoot continuously for 100 minutes in 8K/30fps.
However, unlike the Insta360 X5 that currently dominates the market, the lenses aren't user-replaceable. Yes, DJI has manufactured them to ensure they have enhanced scratch and abrasion resistance, and yes, the company also offers a lens replacement service when things go wrong. But those protruding dual fisheyes are always going to be a bit more vulnerable than normal.
Handily, SmallRig's full-cover cage features a foldable lens protection support that protects the lens from impacts while maintaining seamless 360° image stitching. It also includes an independent silicone protective cover that provides all-around lens protection when the camera is not in use, and crucially allows for direct attachment and convenient storage without cage removal.
Elsewhere, strategically placed side and bottom cutouts allow quick battery access and easy tripod / selfie stick mounting. And an integrated cold shoe mount and 1/4"-20 anti-twist hole support accessory expansion for a variety of different shooting scenarios.
Constructed from durable aluminum alloy, it weighs only 48 g / 1.7 oz, though this is bumped up to 86 g / 3.0 oz when the Silicone Lens Cover is included.
The Cage for DJI Osmo 360 costs $36.99. It is shipping worldwide now except for the US, where orders are expected to ship at the end of August.
