Blake Jones:

**One of our favourite moments from IBC2019 was probably when renowned colorist Blake Jones explained to us just how far grading has come.**

Blake Jones is something akin to colorist royalty. He worked on a lot of the big home video releases for MGM UA, which means he has titles such as 2001: A Space Odyssey, Poltergeist, and the Technicolor series of MGM musicals such as Seven Brides for Seven Brothers in his portfolio.

Back then, grading was an almost industrial process using a telecine machine running the original neg; now it’s via a laptop hooked up to an OLED screen such as the ASUS ProArt PQ22UC.

“This is a perfect solution for Digital intermediate grading in the field,” he says.
