David Shapton and Bas Goossens look back on Day One of what has already been a busy IBC21019 and discuss - well, what else? - cameras.

Cameras always tend to dominate the tradeshow cycle. Since post production software has been largely commoditised and standardised and you don’t have the giant booths of yore demoing astonishing new graphics features in the depths of a booming Hall 7, cameras have been the main story everywhere.

This year is no different. So, we start today with Sony’s FX9 and an interesting question: what exactly happens and where between the 6K sensor in the camera and the 4K output?

Andy has spent over two decades writing about all aspects of the broadcast and film industries for a variety of high-profile industry publications on both sides of the Atlantic. During that time the industry has moved from 4:3 SD to 16:9 SD to HD and now on to 4K HDR. He's getting kind of curious to see where it goes next.
