**GoPro is bringing a totally revamped app to the table along with forthcoming firmware updates across its range.**

The coming month or so will bring some new updates from GoPro, including for its older Hero8 Black camera. The headline update is with regard to the company’s [mobile app](https://gopro.com/en/us/shop/softwareandapp) with a new feature, Mural.

Mural let’s users relive their favourite moments with a personalised ‘wall’ of must-see photos and videos. The new features of Mural are:-

- Make Your Mural: add your best GoPro photos and videos to customize your Mural.
- Easy Browsing: Three stages of viewing content, controlled by tapping the view icon to see your full collection at a glance or hone in on specific photos or videos.
- Highlight Reels: Relive events with an automatically generated, shareable edits of your favorite moments.
- Personalization: Rename events and customize an edit for sharing.

The new GoPro app featuring Mural is available now.

## The Remote

The Remote is, as the name suggests, a new remote control device for GoPro cameras. It can be mounted to a user’s wrist or to something like a gear strap, handlebar, or rollbar. The Remote has the following features

- Waterproof to 16ft
- Works up to 196ft away
- Easy navigation with large display screen and glove-friendly raised buttons
- Start/stop recording
- Change modes and preset settings
- Works on up to five GoPro cameras simultaneously
- Uses Bluetooth® Low Energy for maximum battery life and easy pairing with GoPro.
- Compatible with HERO9 Black, HERO8 Black and MAX

The Remote will be available from December 17th in North America for $79.99, or for 30% off if you’re a GoPro Subscriber. The worldwide release will be made in February 2021.

## Firmware updates

From December 17th the company will be releasing another round of firmware updates for the [HERO9 Black](https://gopro.com/en/us/shop/cameras/hero9-black/CHDHX-901-master.html), [HERO8 Black](https://gopro.com/en/us/shop/cameras/hero8-black/CHDHX-801-master.html), and the [MAX](https://gopro.com/en/us/shop/cameras/max/CHDHZ-201-master.html). These updates will add compatibility for the cameras with the new remote, as well as boosting offload speeds to the GoPro app by up to 30%.

The HERO9 Black will gain

- Up to 30% faster wireless offload speeds for faster transfers to the GoPro app.
- Improved HyperSmooth 3.0 performance in cold temperatures.
- A slo-mo shortcut slider button.
- Improved GPS lock accuracy.
- Support for Live Streaming with the [Max Lens Mod](https://gopro.com/en/us/shop/mounts-accessories/hero9-black-max-lens-mod/ADWAL-001.html), bringing HyperSmooth video stabilisation, ultra-wide 155° Max SuperView perspective and powerful in-camera horizon lock to live streaming.
- Pro 3.5mm Mic Adapter support for those seeking an elevated audio input option outside of using the Media Mod for HERO9 Black.
- Compatibility support for The Remote

The HERO8 update will include up to 15% faster wireless offload speeds and compatibility with The Remote. The MAX will gain 20% increased wireless transfer speeds, The Remote compatibility, and a couple of user interface enhancements.
