Maxon's NAB announcements cover Cinema 4D for iPad, a free relaunch of the Autograph motion graphics app, and Windows on Arm support across its tool range.

Maxon has a clutch of new announcements focused on broadening access to its tools, headlined by Cinema 4D on iPad, a relaunch of the Autograph motion graphics application as a free download, and the expansion of its software to Windows on Arm (WoA) devices.

Cinema 4D for iPad

The iPad beta of Cinema 4D, announced at NAB, marks what Maxon claims to be the first time a professional 3D tool of this scope has appeared on a mobile platform. The touch-optimized interface covers core 3D modeling and design capabilities and is designed to complement rather than replace the desktop version. An M3 chip or later is recommended. The full release is scheduled for late 2026.

Autograph returns and for free

The company has relaunched Autograph, the motion graphics and compositing application it acquired from Left Angle, as a free download for individual users. Given that it retailed at $299 when Maxon shuttered it, that's a decent discount.

Autograph combines 2D animation, compositing, and 3D capabilities in a single environment and supports USD, OpenEXR, ACES, OpenColorIO, and OpenFX. It integrates with Maxon Studio and select Red Giant tools, and supports third-party OpenFX plugins from RE:Vision Effects, BorisFX, and Digital Anarchy. The application includes a Cloner system for iterative animations and responsive design tools for multi-aspect-ratio delivery.

Windows on Arm

ZBrush (desktop), Cinema 4D, and Red Giant tools within Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects are now available on WoA hardware, including the Microsoft Surface Pro (Snapdragon X Elite) and Dell's tablet lineup. Redshift is also supported on WoA, with CPU rendering.
