Leica LUX 2.0 brings a redesigned interface, a Steve McCurry photo look and iPhone 18 Pro support, alongside a new silver camera grip and matching leather cases.
Leica has given its Leica LUX iPhone camera app its biggest update yet. Version 2.0 adds a new gallery interface, the same as one in the Leica FOTOS app, the Artist Look by Steve McCurry, and support for the iPhone 18 Pro series. Elsewhere, a silver Leica LUX grip, a camera grip for the iPhone, and matching leather cases both looksmaxx and round out the mobile system.
There is plenty to talk about with the latest version of the app. The interface has been redesigned with elements of Apple's Liquid Glass design language and new app icons inspired by past Leica cameras. As you would expect, LUX 2.0 supports the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max from launch and is downloadable from the App Store from early October 2026.
The app brings Leica's visual aesthetic to the iPhone, with simulations of Leica lenses, a range of Leica Looks, and manual control over focus, exposure, ISO, and white balance. It now adopts the same gallery interface as the Leica FOTOS app for better integration across the software part of the company’s offerings. A new filmstrip lets users select shots from the detail view, while grid view gains multi-select for managing larger image series. Adobe Lightroom and Capture One can now be launched directly as external editors, alongside existing Darkroom support.
Given that we said that the app was a good start but needed refinements in our review last year, all this is welcome news.
On the physical hardware side of things, the Leica LUX grip, a camera grip for the iPhone, is now available in silver alongside the existing black version. It has a mechanical two-stage shutter release, a setting wheel, and two customizable function buttons, connects via MagSafe and communicates over Bluetooth, and its battery lasts up to 1000 shots before USB-C recharging. It's compatible with iPhone 12 and later.
And finally, Leica LUX cases, in black leather with a red microfiber lining, are built for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. They have an integrated camera button, replacing the previous open cut-out, and are MagSafe-compatible with the grip and other accessories.
The silver grip, cases, Artist Look, and iPhone 18 Pro support are all available now. The silver grip costs $395 and comes with a one-year Leica LUX PRO subscription. Cases cost $95 each. LUX PRO costs $6.99 a month or $69.99 a year, with a seven-day free trial; the basic app is free.
