Hollyland's Pyro 5 4K combines monitor, transmitter, and receiver in one unit, adding 4K30 wireless transmission, expanded camera control, and Image Overlay. Available now for $449.
Hollyland has launched the Pyro 5 4K, a wireless monitor, transmitter, and receiver combined in a single 5.5-inch device. In doing so it builds out another niche in the Pyro lineup, adding end-to-end 4K30 wireless transmission to the Pyro 5, alongside expanded direct camera control and a new Image Overlay function.
There’s a decent rationale for products such as this. When executed properly, the device replaces the separate wireless transmission and monitoring systems production crews have traditionally used, combining three functions into one unit for camera-mounted or handheld setups.
In Broadcast Mode, a single Pyro 5 4K transmits video to up to four Pyro devices simultaneously at distances of up to 200 m (656 ft) line of sight. With Broadcast Mode disabled, it connects to up to two Pyro devices and two HollyView app clients, the latter allowing for direct live streaming via RTMP.
Direct Camera Control lets operators adjust camera settings from the touchscreen without returning to the camera, now featuring expanded compatibility for more Sony, Canon, and Nikon models. Image Overlay lets crews match framing to a reference image across takes. The monitor also supports proxy recording to SD card with embedded timecode.
The 5.5-inch display reaches 1500 nits and includes waveform, false color, focus assist, zebra pattern, and 3D LUT tools. Connections include HDMI in, HDMI out, and SDI in.
