GoPro's Wireless Mic System Complete Kit ships now at $159.99. The 10 g clip-on transmitters deliver 24-bit/48 kHz audio up to 150 m (492 ft), with Safety Track and Dynamic Noise Reduction included.
GoPro’s Wireless Mic System, first announced as part of the new Mission 1 series, has gone on sale.
A clip-on wireless audio kit designed to work across GoPro cameras, DSLRs, mirrorless cameras, and USB-C phones, the system comes in three configurations. The Complete Kit ships now and includes two transmitters, a TRS 3.5 mm receiver, a USB-C receiver, and a charging case, priced at $159.99. A USB Kit (one transmitter and USB-C receiver) and a standalone Transmitter are both listed by the company as coming soon.
Using the TRS or USB receivers, audio is recorded at 24-bit/48 kHz with a transmission range of 150 m (492 ft). A Safety Track mode records a secondary channel at 6 dB below the primary, providing a fallback if the main track clips. Dynamic Noise Reduction (DNR) is also available.
As you would expect, GoPro’s Mission 1 Series cameras can connect to the transmitter directly via Bluetooth, without a receiver. This uses Bluetooth HFP 1.9 with Super Wideband Speech, reducing specs to 16-bit/32 kHz at a range up to 100 m (328 ft). Gain adjustment is available on all connection types.
Transmitter battery life is rated at 6.5 hours per charge; the charging case extends this to 20 hours total per transmitter. The TRS receiver, meanwhile, runs for 13 hours on a single charge.
