Godox has launched two compact LED lights, the ML40Bi and ML40R, that share the same pocket-sized body but differ in color range, FX modes, and output.
Godox continues its impressive release cadence of low-cost portable LED lights with a new pair of palm-sized LED. The ML40Bi and ML40R are built around the same compact form factor, small enough to palm or pocket, and share a magnetic snap-on mount for quick placement on metal surfaces.
Both lights run from a built-in 4800 mAh lithium battery, rated for around 43 minutes of runtime at full output, and support charge-while-shooting via USB-C at up to 60 W. The ML40Bi covers a 2800K–6500K CCT range; the RGB-capable ML40R extends that to 1800K–10000K. CRI and TLCI ratings are approximately 97 for the Bi and 95 for the R version.
FX mode count differs slightly across the two lights as well: 11 on the Bi, 14 on the R. Both support control via the Godox Light App, NFC pairing, or on-fixture controls, with Bluetooth range up to 30 m.
The optional ML-L10 Lens Reflector is purpose-built for both models. Godox claims it boosts output by up to 24× on the ML40Bi and 16× on the ML40R compared to bare output. At 1 m and 5600K, the ML40Bi measures 1060 lux bare and 26,400 lux with the ML-L10 fitted, a multiplier of over 24×. The ML40R comes in lower at 781 lux bare and 12,300 lux with the reflector. The reflector is available separately at $11.90.
The lights are compatible with the Godox Mount accessory system. Both units measure 97 × 46 × 91 mm (3.82 × 1.81 × 3.58 in) and weigh approximately 422 g (0.93 lb) without the reflector. A BG02 battery grip provides extended runtime.
Pre-orders are open now. The ML40Bi is priced at $99 and the ML40R at $119. Pricing may vary by region.
