Along with releasing ver 1.10 firmware for the GFX ETERNA 55, Fujifilm has outlined firmware release plans for the camera up to ver 1.30 next year.
Fujifilm has announced a firmware roadmap for the GFX ETERNA 55, its medium format filmmaking camera, adding new features and improving usability over the coming months. Here are the details:
White balance no longer shifts when using the included PL mount adapter with Fujifilm PL lenses not yet updated for GFX ETERNA 55 compatibility, or with third-party PL lenses. The update also improves stability and operability during menu use and recording in certain conditions, along with display accuracy, timecode, and monitor behavior during shooting and playback.
In-camera playback of MXF files
Backup and restore of camera settings via a dedicated app
Further reductions to SDI and HDMI video latency, building on the improvements made in firmware 1.04
Additional anamorphic desqueeze options, including Open Gate 4K 4:3
Additional preset options for coarse adjustment of the electronic variable ND filter
Automatic in-camera ND density adjustment while holding iris, shutter angle, and ISO constant
LANC support
Remote control of Duvo Series lenses via the multi-function dial on the camera body and handle
One of the most anticipated upcoming additions to the GFX ETERNA 55 is an EVF accessory. A prototype has been demoed at trade shows since last year, but as yet there is no indication of a future release based on this current firmware roadmap.
