Eddie AI NAB 2026 updates: self-serve access, increased hours of import, and more

A quick list of updates from Eddie AI ahead of NAB turns out not to be that quick, as there is a lot to cover.

Probably the major talking point is that the AI-powered editing tool Eddie AI is self-serve again. "We removed the mandatory 1:1 on-boarding for new users. If you don't have access or haven't got access: download the latest Eddie and then click New Project," writes the company. The fact that it's at the top of their list of recent developments suggests this was turning into a bit of a pain point for some.

Upcoming new features include support for complex clips in FCP projects. It already supports importing multicams/sync/compound clips and basic projects/timelines. It is about to support projects/timelines where you have multicams/sync/compound clips. Premiere/Resolve users can already import timelines with multicams. No ETA onthis as yet.

Perhaps more significantly, the company promises an update where you will be able to bring in a lot ("Like a looooot," it writes) more hours of interviews into Eddie if you’re on a higher sub tier (the list runs from Free to Pro to Pro+ to Ultra). Stay tuned.

All this is added to the round of recent updates in recent months. To sum up, these include:

• Hola, Hello. Multilingual transcription is here where Eddie now handles different languages in the same video. It’s useful where an interviewer asks questions in one language and the interviewee answers questions in another language. 
• Faster turnaround; no proxy gen needed. Eddie can import your source media or attached proxies without needing to transcode again. 
• Podcast Mode. Import up to 6 cameras now!
• Padding: tops & tails on clips in Scripted mode. Add breathing room before and after cuts. 
• Smarter B-roll organization. Grouped and sequenced before placement, passed through to your NLE.
• Unrestricted Free/Pay As You Go plan. On all tiers you can now import multicams and sequences too. And no need to subscribe: buy credit as you need.
• Multi-track audio. Recording 8 tracks? We got ya. 
• And last but not least… a new toolbar
