DJI's forthcoming DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Pro, now the Pocket 4P, will be unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival on Thursday.
[Update. Thanks to a single picture on DJI Global's X account, we now know that the DJI Osmo Pocket 4P will be unveiled at the Cannes Film festival on Thursday. The location and the tagline 'New Frame. New Masterpiece' suggests that the company is very much targeting filmmakers with the new gimbal and expects it to be able to compete with high-end tools. Wil be very interesting to get the details of the confirmed specs.]
First off the video. It's only 8 seconds long, but it does at least confirm a few things that have been long rumored about the DJI Osmo Pocket 4P.
There's also a statement:
"Built for advanced creators who demand more from their cinematic visual storytelling, DJI will launch the Osmo Pocket 4P—a revolutionary pocket-sized gimbal equipped with a dual-camera system—in 2026. Offering flexible focal length coverage for seamless adaptation across diverse shooting scenarios, the Osmo Pocket 4P combines powerful upgraded hardware with boundless creative possibilities to usher in a new era of mobile cinematography. Stay tuned for further official announcements."
1. The name is confirmed as the DJI Pocket 4P and not the Pocket 4 Pro. This is the same naming system the company has just used with the release of the Osmo Mobile 8P, and seems to be DJI's new pattern.
2. A 3x optical zoom as part of a dual-lens setup is confirmed. No doubt digital zoom further extends that, but this is a significant new addition to the gimbal camera ecosystem.
3. A 1-inch sensor is also confirmed. This is the same as the Pocket 4 and the Pocket 3 before that. It is also the same spec as the forthcoming Insta360 Luna Ultra dual camera gimbal.
4. It is now likely to be on sale in June, if not before, as DJI operates a fairly compressed launch playbook. Analyzing the company's recent launches, a teaser with no date is usually followed swiftly with a date-stamped one. That might arrive as soon as next week. Equally, sometimes DJI has pulled the trigger even more quickly than that. (And, indeed, it has, though the on-sale date might still be June. Ed.)
Either way, effectively the Pocket 4P is metaphorically making its way to the launchpad while it is very likely physically shipping to retailers round the world at the same time.
