Blackmagic Design's Camera 10.2 makes phase-detection autofocus official on the PYXIS 6K, also adding transition speed controls and Cloud Streaming capability.
The phase-detection autofocus that Blackmagic Design has been testing on the PYXIS 6K since March is now out of beta. Camera 10.2, released yesterday, makes PDAF official on the camera and brings a handful of additions that weren't in the original test build.
The core autofocus toolkit, continuous AF, face detect, object tracking, and a resizable focus box, carries over from the RC1 build, along with linear focus support for L-Mount lenses. New to the final release are autofocus transition speed controls, the ability to assign an AF mode toggle to a shortcut key, and an option to pause continuous autofocus by holding the focus button. This is going to be useful for operators who want to briefly lock focus mid-shot without diving into menus.
The other addition is Blackmagic Cloud Streaming support, which wasn't part of the original test build at all. Blackmagic has been progressively rolling out Cloud features across its camera lineup, and the PYXIS 6K now joins that ecosystem.
Camera 10.2 is available now from the Blackmagic Design support page.
