Atomos NAB 2026: Sumo PRO-19, Flanders Scientific and more

Written by Andy Stout | Apr 27, 2026 6:53:32 AM

Atomos arrives at NAB 2026 with its most ambitious lineup yet, headlined by the Flanders Scientific acquisition, the new Sumo PRO-19 monitor-recorder-switcher, and an expanding PTZ and audio ecosystem.

Ever since Peter Barber took over the CEO role at Atomos last year, he has intensified the company's quest at diversification, so it's no surprise he starts our quick roundup of the company's new products with a pair of headphones: the Studio Sonic Air, an update to the company's production headphones that add Bluetooth.

Its biggest news at the show however was, of course, the acquisition of Flanders Scientific

"Flanders Scientific, over many years, has built a really strong reputation for color-calibrated, accurate, really high-resolution reference-grade monitors for onset, production, or post-production workflows," says Barber. "Now we have solutions all the way from five-inch on-camera monitors all the way up to 65-inch reference displays within the ecosystem."

It looks to have been a smart purchase and we look forward to seeing what emerges from the two companies in the future.

For now though, there is still plenty to talk about.

The centrepiece of the hardware announcements this time round was the Sumo Pro 19, a true 4K touchscreen onset monitor with multi-camera recording capability. The unit accepts up to four HD feeds, recording ISO files from each camera plus a switched output, for five total recordings. It also supports raw recording via SDI or HDMI inputs, writes to CFexpress Type B media, and accepts alternative media via USB-C. WiFi is built in, enabling camera-to-cloud uploads to services including Frame.io and Dropbox, as well as NDI video distribution from compatible Atomos recorders. The Sumo Pro 19 runs on 12 V DC and supports VESA mounting. It is priced at $2899.

The Shogun AV provides a closely related feature set in a 7RU rack-mount form factor, sharing the same 4K touchscreen but without Wi-Fi connectivity, at $2099.

And on the growing PTZ side, Atomos introduced an advanced controller featuring a 7-inch built-in touchscreen with NDI support, capable of controlling up to 254 cameras from any manufacturer.
