Artemis Director's Viewfinder: Vertical Mode

Chemical Wedding has added a dedicated Vertical Mode to Artemis Director's Viewfinder, bringing its lens, framing and shot-planning tools to vertical production.

Chemical Wedding has added Vertical Mode to Artemis Director's Viewfinder, giving the app a dedicated toolset for vertical production. This is believed to be the first director's viewfinder to offer this, and is one of the many signs that vertical is not only here to stay but becoming an increasingly important consideration at the high end of production.

The 8.9.0 update ensures that all of Artemis's existing planning and pre-visualization tools, including lens, framing, and shot-planning, now work equally well for vertical composition. The release also includes Helios Live-View, letting filmmakers plan natural light for exterior vertical shoots, and is fully integrated with Artemis Studio, the desktop planning app for Mac.

"Vertical content now accounts for a large share of all production, not a niche corner of it. Vertical Mode gives the people shooting that work the same professional tool Artemis has always offered for horizontal framing, built for 9:16 instead of adapted from it," says the company.

Vertical Mode is available now as a free upgrade for all Artemis users, and is simply activated in Settings in the latest version.
