Aputure has released the STORM CS32, a fully tunable colour LED fixture with output beating a 4K HMI, priced from €5600 and shipping in October.
Having first been previewed at NAB, Aputure’s new STORM CS32 is an eye-catching sight on its stand at IBC and is now the brightest fully tunable colour fixture in its point-source LED line. It combines output exceeding a 4K HMI with saturated colour across the visible spectrum and tunable white light, in a package small and light enough for one person to rig despite its fairly intimidating size.
The CS32 uses Aputure's latest BLAIR-CG light engine with Extended Red. White light SSI scores reach 93 (P3200) and 91 (CIE D5600) across a 1800 to 20,000 K CCT range, with ±100% green adjustment (full ASC MITC range) and HSIC+ and x,y colour tuning covering more than 90% of Rec. 2020. The Indigo emitter is designed to activate natural fluorescence in fabrics and surfaces to match real daylight and tungsten light without added UV, while the expanded Extended Red emitter set is aimed at richer skin tones and a fuller spectrum at higher output. Aputure says the goal is that it fits on a head cart and one person can set it up.
Other features include a new Aputure Ultra Clamp for mounting the control box, with a locking safety pin; an optional STORM CS32 Skid base (also included in the STORM CS32 Cine Kit with flight cases); a 45 m (147.6 ft) optional head cable extension, with the unit shipping with a 7.5 m (24.6 ft) cable and 15 m (49.2 ft) accessory cables available for daisy-chaining; an optional top-mount air deflector to vent exhaust behind the lamp head; full output across a 100-240 V power range; air cooling with low noise; IP65 rating; and Sidus NFC, DMX, CRMX and Ethernet control. It is compatible with the existing range of STORM XT52 accessories.

Euro prices for the accessories (excluding VAT) are: STORM CS32 Skid, €95; Air Deflector, €40; PLK28 10-pin male-to-female 15 m lamp head cable, €500; AM Lantern 180, €599.
