Aputure previews its brightest-ever tunable color COB light ahead of NAB, and ships a major Sidus Link Pro update with integrated 3D lighting previs.
Aputure is previewing the STORM CS32, which it reckons will be the brightest fully tunable color fixture in its point source line on release. The CS32 uses Aputure's BLAIR-CG light engine and outputs 105,300 lux (medium reflector at 3 m, 5600K), putting it on par with a 4K HMI. The fixture is designed for single-person operation.
The BLAIR-CG engine uses Blue/Lime/Amber/Indigo/Red/Cyan/Green emitters. Indigo emitters support natural fluorescence while Extended Red is aimed at skin tone rendering, both combining to give better results than traditional fixtures.
Color specs include SSI [P3200]: 93 and SSI [CIE D5600]: 92, a CCT range of 1800–20,000K, 100% +/- green adjustment (full ASC MITC range), HSIC+ and x,y coordinate color tuning covering more than 90% of Rec. 2020.
One interesting innovation is that the CS32 is auto-sensing and will configure itself for the available power supply, from a standard 120V household circuit upward. Higher-powered circuits unlock an additional 25% of light output.
The lamp head weighs 17 kg (37.5 lb) and measures 36 x 39.7 x 33.1 cm (14.2 x 15.6 x 13 in). The control box weighs 10.8 kg (23.8 lb) and measures 34.5 x 16 x 37.6 cm (13.6 x 6.3 x 14.8 in).

The headline addition is 3D Visualizer, which lets users build a virtual scene with lights, characters, and props to preview how light falls, configure DMX settings, and program cues before arriving on set. Patched fixtures appear automatically in the workflow, and cues and DMX settings carry through directly into production.
Sidus Link Pro 2.3 is available now on the App Store for iPad. 3D Visualizer is included in the Pro plan at $10/month; the MAX plan adds support for four universes of control.
